How do you decide if a promise is "Kept," "Partial," or "Broken"?›
Kept: Action documented that directly fulfills the promise — signed legislation, executive order, or official budget document.
Partial: Some action taken but result is incomplete, reversed, or partially achieved. We explain specifically what was done and what was not.
Broken: No action taken, the opposite action was taken, or the official publicly abandoned the commitment.
Pending: The promise relates to a future action or is in progress — we monitor and update as the record develops.
Are you funded by any political party, campaign, or government?›
No. CivicLedger does not accept funding from political parties, campaigns, candidates, PACs, or any government entity. We will never accept payment that could influence our editorial decisions. Current funding comes from the founder. Future revenue will come from institutional access licensing, civic technology grants from foundations, and premium subscriptions. A full disclosure of all funding sources will be published here as they are established.
Why does one politician have more entries than another?›
Coverage depth reflects time in office and how long we have been tracking an official. An incumbent with a 7-year record will have more entries than a challenger who declared last month. We do not selectively cover officials based on party or political position. Every official receives the same template and the same level of scrutiny.
What sources do you use?›
For promises: Official campaign websites, debate transcripts (C-SPAN), press conference recordings, official public statements.
For actions: Official legislation text (flsenate.gov, congress.gov, whitehouse.gov), executive orders, official budget documents, government agency reports.
For donor data: FEC.gov and Florida Division of Elections official filings only.
We do not use opinion pieces, editorial boards, or partisan media as sources.
I think an entry is wrong. How do I report it?›
Email corrections@civicledgerfl.com with the entry in question, the specific claim you believe is inaccurate, and a primary source supporting your correction. We respond within 72 hours. If a correction is warranted, we update the entry and note the change with a timestamp. We do not delete entries — we correct them transparently.
