Ashley Gantt

Born April 14 1985 and raised in Florida. Graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2007. Joined Teach For America Mississippi Delta Corps for two years after graduation. Returned to South Florida and taught at Carol City Senior High School and Allapattah Middle School in Miami-Dade County Public Schools for seven years. Earned her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 2016. Became a Broward County Assistant Public Defender before founding her own firm Gantt Legacy Law P.A. in 2021 specializing in criminal defense, estate planning, and personal injury. First elected to the Florida House in 2022 defeating incumbent James Bush III. Re-elected in 2024 defeating two former lawmakers with 53% of the vote.

Florida State Representatives serve two-year terms and represent approximately 180,000 residents. They vote on state legislation covering education, public safety, housing, healthcare, transportation, and the state budget. District 109 covers parts of North Miami-Dade including Miami Gardens, Opa-locka, Miami Lakes, Liberty City and Brownsville. Representatives may serve a maximum of four consecutive terms. Annual salary: $29,697.
