Michael Joseph

Michael Joseph is the Mayor of the City of North Miami Beach, Florida, a nonpartisan office he was elected to in November 2024, making him the city's first Haitian-American mayor. Prior to serving as mayor, he served as a City Commissioner for North Miami Beach and worked as an attorney at the law firm Galbut Walters & Associates LLP, focusing on civil rights and land use, as well as previously working for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He holds a Master's in Business Administration from Florida International University and a Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University School of Law. His election as the first Haitian-American mayor of North Miami Beach marked a historic milestone for the city and its large Haitian-American community. He graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School, where he participated in the 5000 Role Models of Excellence program founded by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson.

The Mayor of the City of North Miami Beach is the chief elected executive of a municipal government in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Mayor presides over City Commission meetings, serves as the official representative of the city, and works with the city manager and commission to set policy, oversee municipal services, and advocate for the interests of North Miami Beach residents.
