Jay R. Chernoff

Jay R. Chernoff is a Commissioner representing Group 2 for the City of North Miami Beach, Florida, a nonpartisan office to which he was elected in November 2022 following a high-stakes runoff election victory against incumbent Paule Villard. Prior to his current term, Chernoff served as a city commissioner from 1989 to 2007 and has frequently held the role of Vice Mayor, establishing decades of experience in municipal governance. He earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida. A seasoned Realtor and real estate professional, he has leveraged his property market expertise to counsel local community housing and development boards. Chernoff is a lifelong resident of North Miami Beach of 63 years, residing with his wife Robin. His civic leadership background includes serving as President of the Miami-Dade League of Cities and President of the Greater North Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. In office, Vice Mayor Chernoff focuses his platform on fiscal responsibility, lowering municipal taxes, optimizing City Hall customer service, expanding community policing, and improving local garbage collection logistics.
