Mike Butler

Mike Butler serves as Commissioner for Seat 1 on the Hallandale Beach City Commission, a nonpartisan municipal office in Hallandale Beach, Florida. He first entered local government after winning a March 2018 special election to fill the remaining vacancy of former Commissioner Anthony Sanders, subsequently defending his seat in the November 2018 general election. Prior to holding elected office, Butler built a career as a corporate business manager and was deeply involved in local advisory boards. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University (Class of 1990). Most recently, Butler won re-election to a four-year term on November 8, 2022, securing 40.1% of the vote in a highly competitive four-way race. Having also served in the capacity of Vice Mayor during his tenure, Butler emphasizes community coalition-building and sustainable neighborhood infrastructure. His current term expires ahead of the November 3, 2026 municipal general election cycle, where his Seat 1 position is scheduled to be on the ballot.
