Michele Lazarow

Michele Lazarow serves as Vice-Mayor and Seat 4 representative on the Hallandale Beach City Commission, a nonpartisan municipal office to which she was first elected in 2012 and most recently re-elected to a four-year term in November 2024. Prior to and during her early tenure in local government, she operated Absolutely Fabulous!, a popular retail boutique on Hallandale Beach Boulevard, following in the small-business footsteps of her mother. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in psychology from The New School for Social Research in New York City. Lazarow grew up locally, attending Hallandale High School after her family relocated to the city in 1980, and has maintained continuous residency since 2001. Throughout her time on the commission, she has built a prominent public legacy as a grassroots animal rights advocate, successfully championing ordinances to ban retail puppy-mill sales and leading campaigns to transform regional facilities into No-Kill shelters. In her current term running through November 2028, Vice-Mayor Lazarow continues to focus on environmental stewardship, neighborhood safety, and managing responsible commercial development.

The Vice Mayor of Hallandale Beach is an elected position within the City Commission, the legislative and governing body of this municipal government in Broward County, Florida. The Vice Mayor presides over commission meetings in the Mayor's absence and shares in the commission's responsibilities of setting city policy, approving the municipal budget, and overseeing the delivery of city services.
