Jeniffer Viscarra

Jeniffer Viscarra serves as Vice Mayor and Commissioner for Seat 4 on the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission, a nonpartisan position to which she was first elected in November 2018 and subsequently re-elected to a second term in November 2022. She was most recently re-appointed by her peers to serve as Vice Mayor on January 16, 2026. Before entering elected office, she served as Chair of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Advisory Committee (CAC) from 2014 until her election as Commissioner, and she also worked as a special education teacher, coordinator, and adjunct professor at Florida International University. She earned her law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City and currently practices family law with the Cabanas Law Firm, serving as a Certified Family Mediator. During her tenure on the CAC, she focused on strengthening communication between committee members and the city, and as Commissioner she has spearheaded community engagement and quality-of-life initiatives, including the city's inaugural Adaptive Beach Day. In March 2026, she publicly endorsed State Representative Fabián Basabe in the HD 106 race, praising his attentiveness to municipal needs. She continues to balance her roles as an elected official, practicing attorney, and former educator heading into the November 3, 2026 municipal election cycle.

The Vice Mayor and Commissioner of Sunny Isles Beach is a member of the five-seat City Commission, the governing legislative body of this Miami-Dade County municipality. The Commission holds authority over municipal ordinances, the city budget, land use policy, and appointment of city officers, with the Vice Mayor assuming mayoral duties in the Mayor's absence.
