Maureen Porras

Maureen Porras serves as a Council Member for Seat 2 on the Doral City Council, a nonpartisan municipal office to which she was elected in November 2022. Alongside her legislative service, she is an accomplished Managing Immigration Attorney and serves as the Legal Director of a regional public interest nonprofit organization, where she has operated since 2016. She has dedicated herself to providing access to legal services for South Florida families since 2008, expanding her human rights outreach to collaborate with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Porras earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, from Florida International University in 2010—where she interned for former U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen—and a Juris Doctor from the Florida Coastal School of Law in 2014. Born in Nicaragua, she immigrated to Miami-Dade County at age seven, a lived experience that deeply informed her public service. A former Doral Vice Mayor, she made headlines in January 2025 by officially switching her party registration from Democrat to Republican, citing ideological misalignment over socialist concepts infiltrating the Democratic Party and the unifying nature of Donald Trump's electoral victory. On the council, her signature initiatives include launching the collaborative Doral Moms' Club to support local families. Her current term concludes ahead of the November 3, 2026 municipal general election cycle.
