Laura Dominguez

Laura Dominguez is a Nonpartisan Commissioner representing Group 2 on the City of Miami Beach Commission, first elected in November 2022 to complete an unexpired term and re-elected to her first full four-year term on November 4, 2025, by securing 61% of the vote against challenger Fred Karlton. Before running for office, she was a longtime community activist and civic advocate, working closely alongside the late Commissioner Mark Samuelian — her life partner — attending neighborhood association meetings throughout Miami Beach and engaging in grassroots organizing. She is a graduate of the University of Miami, Miami-Dade College, and the Miami Beach Leadership Academy, and operates her own private digital marketing firm. Her extensive civic leadership footprint includes active memberships in Miami Beach United and the Miami Design Preservation League, alongside board service for the Belle Isle Residents Association, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, the local World Affairs Council chapter, and Equality Florida. She was officially sworn in as the Vice Mayor of Miami Beach on April 14, 2026, a rotational leadership role she is serving in through July 31, 2026. Her ongoing priorities run continuously through November 2029, focusing on elevating public safety, advancing flood-prevention and community resiliency infrastructure, and keeping residents at the center of city decision-making.
