Michael P. Callahan

Michael P. Callahan serves as Vice Mayor of the Town of Cutler Bay, Florida, a nonpartisan municipal office he has held since 2020, following a successful re-election bid for a second term in November 2024 and subsequent inauguration on November 20, 2024. He previously served as an elected Council Member for Seat 2 from 2016 to 2020, and concurrently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Community Health Foundation Inc. (CHI). A longtime Cutler Bay resident since 1977, Callahan grew up in the community after his father retired from 27 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, and he is a father of three with one grandson. He attended Centennial Jr. High, graduated from Miami Southridge Senior High in 1982, and continued his education in theatre at the University of Miami and Webster University. During his time at Southridge, he was a Silver Knight nominee for Theatre and received the National Speech and Drama Award. Professionally, Callahan has built an extensive background in facility management and the arts, serving as a licensed building contractor, a former Manager of Facility Engineering at Macy's, and a former Technical Director for the Actors' Playhouse. On the council, Callahan has focused his tenure on environmental preservation and recreation, notably spearheading the preservation of 28 acres on Old Cutler Road, the rebuilding of Franjo Park, and the development of the new Legacy Park pool and community center.

The Vice Mayor of the Town of Cutler Bay is an elected leadership position within the town's municipal government, serving as second-in-command to the Mayor on the Town Council. The Vice Mayor presides over Council meetings in the Mayor's absence and shares in the legislative and policy-making responsibilities of the five-member Town Council, including approving budgets, ordinances, and town initiatives.
