Ian Vallecillo

Ian Vallecillo serves as an elected Commissioner for the City of Sweetwater, Florida, representing Group 3 on the Sweetwater City Commission. He was first elected in May 2021 and successfully won re-election to a consecutive four-year term on May 13, 2025, capturing 72.4% of the vote against challenger Teresita Blanco for a term running through May 2029. Prior to his commission service, Vallecillo served the City of Sweetwater as its head Grant Administrator after transitioning from an internship in the Mayor’s office and a municipal internship with the Vice-Mayor of the City of Doral. He later worked as a Proposal Coordinator at Blink Charging and currently operates as a private consultant and local small business owner. He holds a double major in Political Science and International Relations from Florida International University (FIU), having previously graduated from Miami Coral Park Senior High School. Vallecillo’s ascension to the Commission is recognized as a cornerstone of the city’s youth and modernization movement. On the council, he has successfully delivered over $12 million in infrastructure grants to upgrade city parks and streets without increasing property taxes, serving alongside fellow commissioners including Idiana Llanio, Jose Marti, and Marcos Villanueva.
