Hazelle P. Rogers

Hazelle P. Rogers is the elected Broward County Commissioner for District 9, serving as a Democrat on the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. Prior to this role, she served as a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives and as Mayor of Lauderdale Lakes, bringing extensive municipal and legislative experience to the county level. Rogers attended New York City Community College, earning an associate degree in 1976, and later graduated from the University of Phoenix with a degree in business in 2003. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, she migrated to the United States in 1969 and has built a long record of public service focused on people's rights, equal access, quality education, affordable housing, and economic opportunity. She was recognized among ICABA's 100 Most Accomplished Caribbean Americans in 2012 and received the Hall of Fame Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Politics and Governance award in 2014. In her current role, Commissioner Rogers continues to prioritize equitable access to resources and economic opportunity for District 9 residents.

The Broward County Commissioner for District 9 is a member of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the legislative and governing body of Broward County, Florida. The Commissioner shares responsibility for adopting the county budget, enacting local ordinances, setting policy, and overseeing county services and programs for residents within the district.
