Harry Cohen

Harry Cohen is an attorney and Democratic politician currently serving as the Hillsborough County Commissioner for District 1, a seat he first won in November 2020 and held through re-election in November 2022. A Tampa native, Cohen earned his law degree from New York Law School and built an extensive background in local government by serving as Chief Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court and representing District 4 on the Tampa City Council from 2011 to 2019. He successfully transitioned to county governance in 2020 by winning the District 1 seat vacated by term-limited incumbent Sandra Murman, and he currently serves as one of only two Democrats on the seven-member board. Throughout his current term, which runs through November 16, 2026, Cohen has focused heavily on public safety, road repaving, and regional infrastructure, notably serving as the Chairman of the Board for Tampa Bay Water.

The Hillsborough County Commissioner is an elected member of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, the legislative and executive governing body of Hillsborough County, Florida. Commissioners are responsible for setting county policy, adopting the county budget, enacting ordinances, and overseeing the delivery of county services to residents within their respective districts.
