Katrina Baskin

Born and raised in Miami Gardens. Spent over 17 years in Miami-Dade County Public Schools focused on turning around low-performing schools. Played a key role in the district achieving its first-ever A rating in 2018. Runs the nonprofit We Are Farmers Inc. Founded monthly Community Collaboration Town Halls at Buccaneer Park. Holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Mother of two children Trinity and Travis II. Elected August 2024 defeating incumbent Shannon Campbell with 52% of the vote.

City Council Members set policies for the operation of Miami Gardens. They enact Ordinances, adopt Resolutions, review development plans, and establish policies for city governance. Seat 1 represents a specific geographic district. Each Council Member serves a four-year term.
