"I am committed to limited government and no new taxes — I will serve District 11 residents with fiscal responsibility."
Campaign robertojgonzalez.org · 2024 Campaign Website · About/Platform Page
Within months of his January 2023 appointment, Gonzalez signed a new district office lease costing county taxpayers approximately $1 million over nine years while simultaneously maintaining the previous office lease, resulting in overlapping rent payments to taxpayers. The double-lease arrangement drew documented criticism from Florida Politics in August 2024 and raised direct questions about his stated commitment to fiscal responsibility and limited government spending.

No specific documented county legislation, resolution, or program targeting child sex trafficking authored or championed by Gonzalez was found in public record as of mid-2024. The issue is listed as a priority on his official Miami-Dade District 11 'About' page, but no concrete deliverable — such as a task force, funding allocation, awareness campaign, or partnership with law enforcement agencies — has been documented during his tenure since January 2023.

Oppose Tax or Fee Increases for District 11 Residents
Economy & Taxes
◐ Partial
"He vowed to oppose tax or fee increases."
Campaign Florida Politics · August 2024 · Re-election Campaign
Gonzalez's campaign website documents his commitment to no new taxes, and he received a DeSantis endorsement partly citing this stance. No documented vote by Gonzalez in favor of tax or fee increases was found in public Miami-Dade County Commission records during his tenure since January 2023. However, no specific votes against proposed tax or fee increases were independently identified to affirmatively confirm this promise was kept. His overlapping district office lease arrangement (documented separately) raises related fiscal questions, though it does not constitute a tax or fee increase.

Support Law Enforcement and Oppose Defund the Police Efforts
Public Safety
✓ Kept
"He vowed to support law enforcement and push back against defund-the-police efforts."
Campaign Florida Politics · August 2024 · Re-election Campaign
Gonzalez received endorsements from the Fraternal Order of Police Florida District 6, Metro-Dade Firefighters Local 1403, and South Florida Council of Firefighters — indicating consistent support from first responder organizations. No documented county legislation specifically opposing defund-the-police efforts was found, though no defund-the-police proposals appear to have come before the Miami-Dade County Commission during his tenure, meaning there was no specific measure to oppose. His consistent public advocacy and endorsement record support the first half of this promise.
