Melinda De La Vega

Melinda De La Vega is a Hialeah City Council member who was elected to represent Group 5 on the Hialeah City Council and currently serves as Council Vice President. She is a resident of Hialeah with deep roots in the predominantly Cuban-American community. Before entering public office, De La Vega was involved in community advocacy and local civic organizations in the Hialeah area. She ran on a platform emphasizing quality-of-life improvements, public safety, and responsible development for Hialeah residents.

The Hialeah City Council Vice President serves as one of seven at-large council members who legislate on behalf of the city, voting on ordinances, the municipal budget, land use, and city policy. The Vice President presides over council meetings in the absence of the Council President and plays a leadership role in setting the legislative agenda. The council exercises oversight of city operations and approves contracts, zoning changes, and appointments.
