Monica Perez

Monica Perez was born and raised in Hialeah, Florida, to parents who emigrated from Cuba as children. She attended Catholic schools throughout her youth and graduated from Monsignor Edward Pace High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Marketing from Florida International University. During college, she participated in an FIU teaching magnet program working with Miami-Dade County Public Schools at Norland Senior High and Miami Senior High. Before entering politics, she worked with the Greater Hialeah YMCA as a cheerleading coach and after-school coordinator, demonstrating her commitment to youth in her community.

A Hialeah City Council Member serves as part of the legislative body for the City of Hialeah, responsible for enacting ordinances, approving the city budget, setting policy direction, and providing oversight of city operations. Council members represent the residents of Hialeah on matters including zoning, public services, infrastructure, and community development.
