A.J. Ryan IV

A.J. Ryan IV serves as a City Commissioner for the City of Dania Beach, Florida, a nonpartisan office to which he was first elected on November 8, 2022. Because he secured the highest citywide vote total in that election, he automatically assumed the office of Mayor of Dania Beach, serving from 2022 to 2024 before rotating to his current commission seat. Outside of public office, he is a licensed real estate broker and insurance professional operating A.J. Ryan Realty, and he contributes to regional academic leadership as a member of the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Ambassadors Board. Ryan is part of one of Broward County's most prominent multigenerational political families, representing a century-long legacy of local civic service. His great-grandfather, A.J. Ryan Sr., founded the family real estate firm in 1924, served on the Dania and Hollywood city commissions, and chaired the Port Everglades Commission. His great-grandmother, Genevieve, served as national president of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, while his grandfather, A.J. Ryan Jr., served in both the Florida House and Senate. Furthermore, his uncle, Tim Ryan, established a long tenure as a Broward County Commissioner. During his time on the Dania Beach dais, Ryan has prioritized public safety partnerships with BSO, infrastructure funding, and park expansions, such as installing new pickleball facilities at Frost Park. He is currently a declared candidate for the Broward County Commission District 6 seat in the 2026 election cycle.
