Alexandra P. Davis

Alexandra Paljoy Davis (born December 10, 1962) is an American politician serving as Broward County Commissioner for District 7, elected unopposed in 2024 to succeed former Commissioner Tim Ryan. Prior to this role, she served as a Commissioner and Vice Mayor of the City of Miramar, having won Commission Seat 4 in March 2019 after a four-year hiatus from politics. She attended Annandale Primary School in London, England, where she was born, and later pursued higher education at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. Davis founded the Caribbean American Teachers Association of South Florida, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, in 2015, reflecting her background as a certified teacher and her commitment to the Caribbean diaspora community. She has been recognized for her civic leadership, including having a Miramar landmark renamed in her honor, and has been active in coordinating regional disaster relief efforts, including aid to Caribbean nations affected by Hurricane Melissa.

The Broward County Commission is the legislative and governing body of Broward County, Florida, a county-level government serving over 1.9 million residents. The Commission holds authority over the county budget, land use and zoning decisions, public policy, and the provision of county services including transportation, public safety, parks, and housing.
