Mayor Desulme established North Miami's first Housing and Social Services Department, which administers CDBG, HOME, and SHIP federal and state housing grant programs targeting very low-, low-, and moderate-income residents. In May 2025, the city filed its FY 2025–2029 Consolidated Plan with HUD, allocating $1,068,781 in FY 2024–2025 CDBG and HOME funds for affordable housing and community development. Under Mayor Desulme, the city adopted the 2025 Stormwater Master Plan Update and secured a $400,000 FDEP flood-mitigation grant to address drainage vulnerabilities. In April 2025, the city broke ground on the $18.5 million Cagni Park North Athletic Complex (Phase 1 targeted for June 2026 completion), a major public-facilities investment. Alix Desulme serves as Mayor of the City of North Miami, Florida, as a nonpartisan officeholder, first appointed to the role in December 2022 following the departure of Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime and subsequently elected to a full four-year term in a November 2024 runoff election with approximately 68% of the vote. Prior to serving as Mayor, he was elected to the North Miami City Council representing District 4 in 2015, served as Vice Mayor from 2016 to 2017, and won re-election to the council in May 2019; earlier in his career, he was elected North Miami's City Clerk in 2009, becoming the first Black City Clerk and the youngest Haitian American to hold such a position in the United States. He holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of New England. During his tenure, Desulme founded the NoMi Leaders in Training (LIT) program to develop the next generation of public servants and has been recognized as the first Haitian American to serve as Mayor of North Miami. His administration has prioritized housing affordability, infrastructure modernization, and fiscal recovery for the city.
