"Make no mistake – illegal immigration and border security are a top priority for Americans across our country."

The Record
Border security was a centerpiece of Patronis's 2025 special election campaign. As Congressman, Patronis voted 'yes' on H.R. 1 — the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — which passed the House 215–214 on May 22, 2025, and was signed into law on July 4, 2025. The law directed approximately $170.7 billion toward immigration and border enforcement, including $45 billion for ICE detention expansion and $22.6 billion for Customs and Border Protection personnel and operations. Patronis issued a statement praising the bill for its intent to 'strengthen our borders to keep Americans safe.' In April 2026, during a partial DHS government shutdown, Patronis appeared on Fox News calling a Senate funding proposal that excluded ICE and CBP funds 'a non-starter' and arguing it amounted to leaving 'the locks off the gates on the borders.' He has not introduced an independent appropriations bill or amendment specifically targeting southern border funding, and his committee assignments — Small Business and Transportation and Infrastructure — do not provide direct jurisdiction over border appropriations.

The Promise
"We need to be able to have a hedge against this massive overreach by the federal government with a centralized currency. I don't want the federal government knowing that my son went to the grocery store to go buy a bag of Doritos at 2:15 in the afternoon. We need to have some protections in place."

The Record
As Florida CFO in November 2024, Patronis publicly raised concerns about a potential U.S. CBDC, stating he did not want 'the federal government knowing' routine personal financial transactions and calling for 'protections in place' against a centralized government currency (CoinDesk/CNBC, Nov. 1, 2024). After taking office as Congressman on April 2, 2025, Patronis voted 'Yea' on H.R. 1919 – the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act when it passed the House on July 17, 2025 by a vote of approximately 216–192, fulfilling the legislative component of his anti-CBDC commitment. The bill, sponsored by House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, would prohibit the Federal Reserve from issuing a CBDC directly or indirectly to individuals. As of May 19, 2026, the bill has passed the House but remains pending in the Senate, where its fate is uncertain. Separately, President Trump signed an Executive Order on January 23, 2025 banning federal agencies from establishing or promoting CBDCs — an outcome aligned with Patronis's position, though not a direct result of his personal legislation. No bill independently sponsored by Patronis on CBDC prohibition appears in his congressional record on Congress.gov.

Federal Funding for Law Enforcement and First Responders
Public Safety
◐ Partial
The Record
As Florida CFO and State Fire Marshal, Patronis repeatedly prioritized firefighter and first responder safety, including requesting $3.6 million in state funding for first responders' mental health in January 2025. After taking his congressional seat on April 2, 2025, Patronis co-introduced H.Res. 934 alongside Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) — a bipartisan resolution supporting the recognition of November 2025 as 'Carbon Monoxide Action and Awareness Month' — citing his firsthand experience as a former State Fire Marshal with carbon monoxide dangers following hurricanes. He also voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (signed July 4, 2025), which included overtime tax deductions benefiting first responders who rely on overtime pay. As of May 19, 2026, no dedicated bill introduced by Patronis directing new federal grant funding specifically to local law enforcement or first responders appears in his congressional record on Congress.gov. His committee assignments — Small Business and Transportation and Infrastructure — do not place him on committees with primary jurisdiction over law enforcement grant programs such as the DOJ's Byrne Justice Assistance Grant program.

The Record
Patronis introduced H.R. 7045, the PROTECT (Promoting Responsible Online Technology and Ensuring Consumer Trust) Act, on January 13, 2026, which would fully repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and eliminate special legal immunity for Big Tech platforms. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and has one cosponsor as of May 2026; GovTrack estimates a 1% chance of enactment. Patronis also spoke on the House floor urging colleagues to support the bill, hosted telephone town halls on March 17 and April 27, 2026, to build constituent support, and filed a 'True Cost of Big Tech' statement in the Congressional Record in February 2026.
