Joseph Magazine

Joseph Magazine serves as City Commissioner for Group 6 on the Miami Beach City Commission, a nonpartisan seat to which he was elected on November 7, 2023, by a razor-thin margin of 67 votes against challenger Marcella Novela. Prior to his election, Magazine served on the Miami Beach Planning Board, gaining foundational experience in land use and development policy. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University, where he earned degrees in Finance and Business Law, before launching a decorated 20-year investment banking career with roles at Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, and as a Senior Vice President at Loop Capital. Magazine resides in the West Avenue neighborhood of Miami Beach alongside three generations of his family, including his parents, Donna and Joe Sr., and his daughter, Capri, where he has been active in the local school community as Vice President of the PTA at South Pointe Elementary School. He is registered as having no party affiliation, consistent with the nonpartisan nature of Miami Beach municipal elections. On the commission, he serves as Chair of the Finance Committee, leveraging his public finance background to oversee the city's $1 billion municipal budget.
