Joyce L. Davis

Joyce L. Davis is the Mayor of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, a nonpartisan office she first attained by winning election to the City Commission in 2020 and was re-elected in November 2024 after receiving the highest number of votes citywide. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Leadership from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, and is a Ph.D. candidate at Walden University. Prior to entering local governance, she spent over 20 years as a middle school teacher and counselor. Beyond public office, Davis is a prominent community advocate and entrepreneur, serving as the Founder and Executive Director of Pearl Girlz, LLC to provide youth mentorship, and as past Vice President of the Ancient Spanish Monastery Foundation. As Mayor, her legislative focus centers on flood mitigation, public health, infrastructure investment, and cultural enrichment—notably championing the city's first-ever Arts Park. For her dedication to environmental and social resilience, she was celebrated as a 2026 Broward County Women's History Month Honoree. She continues to represent regional interests at the state level as the 1st Vice President of the Broward League of Cities and as a member of the Florida League of Cities Executive Committee.

The Mayor of Dania Beach is the highest vote-receiving member of the five-seat City Commission, a municipal legislative body serving the City of Dania Beach in Broward County, Florida. The Mayor and Commission are responsible for setting city policy, adopting legislation, approving the annual budget, levying taxes, setting fees, and appointing the City Manager as the chief administrative officer of the city.
