Kevin A. Burns

Kevin A. Burns is a longtime resident and public servant in North Miami, Florida. He previously served as Mayor of the City of North Miami, making him one of the few non-Haitian-American elected officials in the municipality's modern political history. Burns returned to elected office in November 2024, winning the District 1 Council seat with approximately 63% of the vote, defeating Vanessa Pierre. He replaced longtime Councilman Scott Galvin, who had served approximately 25 years on the council before being termed out. Burns has been involved in civic and community affairs in North Miami for decades, drawing on his experience as a former mayor to campaign on themes of fiscal responsibility and neighborhood improvement.
