Maria Rodriguez

Maria Rodriguez is the Commissioner for District 3 on the Pembroke Pines City Commission, elected in March 2024 in a nonpartisan municipal election. At age 28, her landmark victory drew regional media attention as she became the youngest commissioner in the city's history, as well as the first female Latina and first Colombian-American local elected official in Broward County history. Born in Colombia and a local resident for over two decades, Rodriguez attended Silver Trail Middle School and West Broward High School. She later pursued higher education abroad, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative and International Politics from the American University of Paris in 2018. Professionally, she built deep civic experience working as a Communications and Outreach Coordinator for Broward County Commission District 7, where she connected residents directly to public resources. She is also a local entrepreneur who owns Glam Picnic Co., an event coordination small business. Since taking office, Rodriguez has advanced a community-first agenda focused on transparent, inclusive governance, improving local waste management, mitigating traffic congestion, and ensuring young families and non-English speakers have a strong voice in municipal decisions.
