Mary Blanco was appointed to the District 7 School Board seat in 2023 by Governor Ron DeSantis following the resignation of Lubby Navarro, who was subsequently charged with fraud and grand theft for allegedly stealing money from her district. Blanco won election to a full term in November 2024 defeating Max Tuchman. District 7 covers southwest Miami-Dade County including Kendall, Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, and surrounding communities โ one of the largest and most suburban districts in the county.
