Paul A. Kruss

Paul A. Kruss serves as a City Commissioner for Seat 4 on the Aventura City Commission, representing the City of Excellence in a nonpartisan capacity. He was automatically elected to his current four-year term after running unopposed during the August 2022 municipal qualifying period, officially taking office on November 15, 2022. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, to a Holocaust survivor mother and a U.S. World War II veteran father, Kruss studied economics and business administration at the University of New Hampshire and Babson College. He has been an Aventura resident for over 30 years, building a prominent public profile as the long-time owner and operator of the iconic Mo's Bagels & Deli. On the commission, his legislative priorities center on resident services, expanding local public safety, and guiding educational infrastructure, including championing the expansion and construction of a new city charter school project to increase student capacity. Commissioner Kruss has officially filed his paperwork to seek re-election to the Seat 4 position in the upcoming November 3, 2026 municipal election.

The Aventura City Commissioner is a member of the City Commission, the legislative and governing body of the City of Aventura, a municipal government in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Commissioners are responsible for setting city policy, adopting the municipal budget, enacting local ordinances, and providing oversight of city operations and services.
