Robert “BJ” Duncan

Robert 'BJ' Duncan is the Council Member for Seat 1 on the Town of Cutler Bay Town Council, a nonpartisan position he has held since first being elected in 2018 and most recently re-elected unopposed in November 2022. Prior to and during his council service, he has built a prominent dual career in higher education and the performing arts, serving since 2012 as the Director of Operations for the College of Communication, Architecture + the Arts at Florida International University, while concurrently working as Technical Director for Zoetic Stage at the Adrienne Arsht Center. He holds a BFA, an MFA, and a Master of Public Administration from FIU. Duncan has been an active participant in municipal governance, including navigating land-use matters such as the Mater Academy Foundation litigation. He and his wife Amy and son Orion continue to reside in the community he represents. Because he is term-limited out of his council seat, Duncan has officially launched his candidacy to run for Mayor of Cutler Bay in the upcoming November 3, 2026 municipal election.
