Steven Meiner

Steven Meiner is the 39th Mayor of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, a nonpartisan office to which he was first elected in November 2023 and re-elected to a second consecutive two-year term on November 4, 2025, by securing 51.2% of the vote against challenger Kristen Rosen Gonzalez. Prior to serving as mayor, he served as a Miami Beach City Commissioner from 2019 to 2023, and earlier in his career worked for 17 years as an enforcement attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He earned his bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Brooklyn College and his Juris Doctor cum laude from Brooklyn Law School. He practiced law in New York City at Mayer Brown from 2002 to 2007 and at Dewey Ballantine from 1998 to 2002. Known as the 'Law and Order Mayor,' Meiner has driven notable public safety overhauls, including spearheading strict South Beach spring break enforcement checkpoints and revamping the municipal prosecution team to achieve a 92% case success rate, contributing to a 19% reduction in major crime. Formally sworn into his current term on December 15, 2025, his administration continues to prioritize government transparency alongside 'safe, clean, and dry' infrastructure investments critical to the barrier island city.
