Teniadé Broughton

Teniadé "Toni" Broughton serves as City Council Member for District 5 on the Pensacola City Council, a nonpartisan office she first won in November 2020 and retained with a decisive 62.9% of the vote in November 2024. A proud seventh-generation Pensacolian raised in the Woodland Heights neighborhood, her deep local roots heavily guide her legislative focus. She is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and pursued higher education at the University of West Florida and Florida A&M University. Before entering public office, Broughton established herself as a leading expert in public history and cultural preservation in Northwest Florida. She is the President of the John Sunday Society—championing the preservation of historic Black landmarks—and serves on the board of the General Daniel "Chappie" James Flight Academy. On the City Council, where she serves as the Chairperson of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), Broughton focuses on equitable urban renewal, affordable housing development, and expanding neighborhood infrastructure. Her leadership continues to blend aggressive civic advocacy with a passion for preserving the rich historical heritage of Pensacola's Westside.
