Walter Fajet

Walter Fajet, Ed.D., serves as Mayor of the City of Miami Springs, Florida, a non-partisan municipal office to which he was elected on April 1, 2025, after securing 65.63% of the vote against candidate Bob Best. This executive tenure follows his continuous legislative service as a City Council member since August 2020. Alongside his mayoral duties, Fajet has built a career as an educator spanning nearly 30 years, currently practicing as the Middle/High School Principal at the Academy for Innovative Education (AIE) Charter School and previously serving as an Instructional Supervisor for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. A lifelong Miami Springs resident, he grew up playing little league sports and serving as a Senior Patrol Leader for Boy Scout Troop 425. He attended Springview Elementary, Miami Springs Junior High, and graduated from Miami Springs Senior High School, subsequently earning his doctoral degree in education. On the council, Fajet has focused his platform on controlled commercial development, city green space preservation, and fiscal transparency. Due to strict municipal term limits, he is currently serving his final allowed consecutive term in office, which is set to expire in April 2027.
