"As a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee since my first day in Congress, I have worked to oppose the dangerous BDS movement, support Israel's efforts to counter instability in the Middle East and prevent a nuclear-armed Iran."

The Record
Mast has consistently advanced pro-Israel U.S. foreign policy from his position in Congress. In January 2015, he volunteered with the IDF through the Sar-El program, packing medical kits at a base outside Tel Aviv. Following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, he wore his IDF uniform on the House floor as a show of solidarity. In January 2025, he was elected Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee for the 119th Congress — a role in which he has continued to advocate for U.S.-Israel military cooperation, oppose the BDS movement, and shape U.S. policy toward Iran and the Middle East. He also introduced H.R.8661, the Foreign Military Financing Loan Authorization Act of 2026, which was ordered reported by the HFAC in May 2026.

Holding Town Halls After Constituent Pressure

"I stayed for four hours today so that everyone who wanted an opportunity to ask a question had an opportunity to have their voice heard. We may not always agree on every issue, but it's critical to listen to each other and hear all sides of an issue."

The Record
In March 2025, hundreds of constituents gathered outside Mast's office in Stuart demanding in-person town halls amid concerns about federal program cuts and veterans' services. Mast appeared at the protest on a motorcycle and stated he would continue holding town halls. On April 15, 2025, he followed through by holding three town halls across Florida's 21st Congressional District — in Jupiter, Palm City, and Port St. Lucie — attended by hundreds of constituents who raised concerns about Social Security, tariffs, veterans' services, and civil liberties. However, the events were restricted to district residents only, with ID verification required at the door, and critics from Indivisible documented that at least one town hall was limited to veterans only, raising ongoing concerns about equitable access. The 'Partial' designation is appropriate given the gap preceding the protests and continued access restrictions.

Rhetoric vs. Record on Russian Aggression and Ukraine Aid

The Record
On February 24, 2025, as House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, Mast issued a formal statement on the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, calling it "the largest tactical and strategic blunder in Russian history" and condemning Russian brutality. He also discussed the Ukraine-Russia peace plan in a November 2025 Fox Business appearance, describing it as "extremely comprehensive." However, his rhetoric has not consistently translated into legislative action — Mast voted against the Ukraine military aid supplemental in April 2024 and holds an "F" rating from Republicans for Ukraine, a nonpartisan watchdog tracking GOP voting records on Ukraine support. His own public statements reflect the tension directly — in 2022 he called the Ukrainian people an inspiration, yet simultaneously refused to vote for military funding, citing accountability concerns: "I'm not going to blindly send your tax dollars to a conflict with no clear goal." The gap between his condemnation of Russian aggression and his consistent votes against Ukraine aid is the core accountability story this entry documents.

Multiple STOCK Act violations have been documented for Mast. In August 2021, Business Insider found he failed to timely disclose a Virgin Galactic stock purchase worth up to $100,000, made in July 2021 after a Virgin Galactic representative testified before a subcommittee on which Mast sat. In August 2022, Business Insider reported a second violation: Mast sold Ideal Power stock worth up to $50,000 in February 2021 but failed to report it until August 2022. A third violation was reported in October 2022, when he disclosed an exchange of Aphria shares for Tilray Brands shares more than a year after the federal deadline. Florida Politics separately reported in January 2022 that Mast ended 2021 with the second-best rate of return on stock purchases in all of Congress, including a 563% return on a marijuana-adjacent trade made just before voting on a marijuana-related bill. No evidence was found of Mast supporting STOCK Act reform or stock trading ban legislation. Trading records indicate his last disclosed trade was March 2024.

Co-Authoring the Burn Pit Transparency Act for Veterans

"Burn pit exposure is the Agent Orange of my generation, but I don't want to see my brothers and sisters in arms go through what Vietnam veterans were unjustly forced to suffer through when it came to getting the treatment they need."

Mast House Press Release · March 3, 2022 · https://mast.house.gov/2022/3/mast-s-burn-pit-transparency-act-passes-house
The Record
Mast co-authored the Burn Pit Transparency Act alongside Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, which was incorporated as an amendment into the Honoring Our PACT Act (H.R. 3967). The Ryan/Mast Amendment passed the House 348-78 on March 3, 2022, and the full PACT Act passed 256-174 the same day. Mast's official House page confirmed he co-authored the legislation to require the VA to document and track burn pit exposures so impacted veterans could receive care. The PACT Act, signed by President Biden on August 10, 2022, is described as the largest VA health care and benefits expansion in history, expanding eligibility for approximately 3.5 million veterans exposed to burn pits and toxic substances. Mast called it 'a massive win for every veteran who has been ignored while they struggled to run or even just breathe.'
