"I am the only Republican on the floor that is putting together a bill called the Dignity Act, which is going to try to fix immigration from legal to illegal once and for all, something that has not been addressed for the last 40 years."

Salazar reintroduced the DIGNIDAD (Dignity) Act as H.R. 4393 on July 15, 2025, a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill co-led with Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) that would strengthen border security, reform the asylum system, and provide a seven-year renewable legal status (not citizenship) for undocumented immigrants present before December 31, 2020 who meet employment, tax, and conduct requirements. By April 2026, the bill had 40 cosponsors and backing from over 90 national organizations, but faced fierce intra-GOP opposition with conservative Republicans labeling it 'amnesty' and a PAC forming to primary its supporters. As of May 2026, House GOP leadership has no plans to allow a committee markup or floor vote, leaving the bill effectively blocked despite Salazar's continued public advocacy and direct appeals to President Trump.
