Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall

Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall is a veteran educator and longtime public servant who has represented District 2 on the Miami-Dade County School Board for over two decades. She is a former Florida State Representative who served in the Florida House from 2000 to 2008. A product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools herself, she has dedicated her career to education advocacy, community empowerment, and equity for underserved communities. District 2 covers a predominantly African American and Caribbean American community in northwest Miami-Dade including Carol City, Opa-locka, and surrounding areas.

Elected School Board Member representing District 2 of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the nation's fourth largest school district with over 335,000 students and 537 schools. Responsible for setting district policy, approving the annual budget, hiring and evaluating the Superintendent, and representing the interests of students, parents, and educators in District 2.
