Protecting Children from Online Sextortion and Predators
Public Safety

"Predators are exploiting gaps in our laws to terrorize children online. By passing the Combating Online Predators Act, Congress is making clear that these threats will be prosecuted with the seriousness they deserve."
Gov. Record View Source β†—
Lee introduced the Combating Online Predators Act (H.R.6719), which strengthens federal law by explicitly criminalizing threats to distribute child sexual abuse material β€” a dangerous loophole that had allowed predators to evade accountability even when clear harm had occurred. The bill passed the House Judiciary Committee unanimously in December 2025, then the full U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed H.R.6719 on January 13, 2026. The Senate companion bill was introduced by Senator Ashley Moody in January 2026. The bill now awaits Senate passage and presidential signature. Lee's bipartisan floor speech was delivered during National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, underscoring the urgency β€” reported sextortion cases in the United States rose sharply from 13,842 in the first half of 2024 to 23,593 during the same period in 2025.

Constitutional Amendment to Restrict Federal Voting to Citizens Only
Government Reform
◐ Partial
"American elections are for American citizens only. This is a huge step to ensuring U.S. elections are safe, secure, and fair β€” and I am committed to continuing the fight towards establishing elections all Americans can have confidence in."

Lee championed and voted for the SAVE America Act (H.R. 8281) when it passed the House in July 2024, then reintroduced a constitutional amendment companion (H.J.Res.152) on March 19, 2026 β€” going further by seeking to enshrine citizen-only voting permanently in the Constitution itself with co-sponsors including House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan. "While current federal law reflects that consensus, the Constitution itself does not explicitly require citizenship for voting in federal elections. This amendment provides the clarity and permanence needed to ensure that this fundamental principle is protected," Lee said. As of May 2026 H.J.Res.152 remains in committee requiring two-thirds of both chambers and three-quarters of states to ratify.

Stopping Prison Contraband β€” Lieutenant Osvaldo Albarati Act
Public Safety
β—‹ Pending
"Cell phones smuggled into prisons are being used to orchestrate criminal operations that endanger correctional officers, inmates, and the public. I am proud to introduce this legislation to protect the safety of our correctional officers, inmates, and communities by cracking down on the illegal use of cell phones in prisons."
Gov. Record View Source β†—
Lee introduced the Lieutenant Osvaldo Albarati Stopping Prison Contraband Act (H.R. 3353) in the 119th Congress on May 13, 2025, upgrading the penalty for smuggling a cell phone into a federal prison from a misdemeanor to a felony and mandating a DOJ review of contraband enforcement policies. This was a reintroduction of H.R. 10161 from the 118th Congress which expired without advancing. The 119th Congress version has a bipartisan Senate companion β€” S.736 was introduced by Senators Ossoff (D-GA) and Grassley (R-IA) on February 26, 2025, representing genuine bipartisan momentum. Helen Andujar Albarati, widow of Lieutenant Albarati, personally endorsed the legislation. As of May 2026 both H.R. 3353 and S.736 remain in committee with no floor votes scheduled.
