Roberto J. Alonso

Roberto J. Alonso won the District 4 School Board seat in August 2022, defeating two other candidates outright in the primary. He succeeded longtime board member Perla Tabares Hantman who held the seat for over 25 years. District 4 covers a large swath of northwest Miami-Dade County including Hialeah, Miami Lakes, Hialeah Gardens, and surrounding unincorporated areas — one of the most densely populated and heavily Hispanic districts in the county with approximately 50 schools under its jurisdiction.

Elected School Board Member representing District 4 of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Responsible for setting district-wide education policy, approving the annual budget, and representing the interests of students, parents, and educators across the heavily populated northwest Miami-Dade communities including Hialeah and Miami Lakes.
