Roberto J. Alonso won the District 4 School Board seat in August 2022, defeating two other candidates outright in the primary. He succeeded longtime board member Perla Tabares Hantman who held the seat for over 25 years. District 4 covers a large swath of northwest Miami-Dade County including Hialeah, Miami Lakes, Hialeah Gardens, and surrounding unincorporated areas โ€” one of the most densely populated and heavily Hispanic districts in the county with approximately 50 schools under its jurisdiction.
